Next Tuesday, January 20, 2009, our 44th president will be sworn into office.  To celebrate this occassion, I have collected these President Barack Obama coloring pages for you and your kids to color.

You may also wish to check out my Martin Luther King Day coloring pages- I even found a picture of President Barack Obama and Martin Luther King, Jr together, which highlights the acheivements that have been made due to Mr. King's efforts to bring basic civil rights to all Americans.

Although civics receives very little attention in schools today, as a student of history I think it is imperative that our children understand our system of government- how it came into being as well as how it functions today.

Along those lines, you will be seeing a lot of history coloring pages on my blog in the future.  I have collected tons of images on my hard drive so i just need to organize them for the website.

You are so right about history. I think your idea of teaching history and civics through coloring pages is a great idea.

Over 40+ years between MLK and BHO. I was watching the mall in Washington today. Amazing. I got goosebumps several times.

Great resource. My kid loves when education is combined w/ fun. I think I appreciate it even more. And when it's free – icing on the cake, darlin'! Continued success with the blog!

Great post, because education combined with fun always has great results. Also, it's great how much importance is given to history, to the people in the past that fought for us, like Martin Luther King, for example.
