Veterans Day was first celebrated in 1919, when it was known as Armistice Day. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance. It was not until 1938 that Congress passed a bill declaring Armistice Day to be an annual national holiday.
President Eisenhower signed legislation in 1954 to change the name to Veterans Day as a way to honor those who served, both in war and peacetime. On the same day, unidentified soldiers were laid to rest at Westminster Abbey in London and at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Veterans Day is now called that to commemorate all veterans, and was originally to commemorate the armistice which ended World War One starting on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 11 November.
In honor of the sacrifice made by the members of our armed forces, I have added some Veteran's Day coloring pages and also some military coloring pages. Please check them out.
Halloween is almost upon us so we decided to do some last minute decorating. I founds these free Sleeping Beauty pumpkin carving patterns and we're going to take a shot at carving one of them for tomorrow. They look pretty challenging so wish us luck. Don't forget to check out our other Halloween coloring pages!
Fair is fair- since I put up some pages for the Texas Rangers I have been getting many requests for San Francisco Giants Baseball Coloring Pages.
Have fun watching the game, whichever team you're rooting for.
I have to admit, I have never been a big fan of watching baseball. I like playing it, though! I guess I miss the tailgating fun and the party atmosphere you have at football games.
While you're here, check out my other fun sports coloring pages.
